This is the first book by McCaughrean I have read. I could not put it down. The plot is very original and humorous, it is about a very thrilling chase book as Pepper defies death every time it catches up with him. 'The Death Defying Pepper Roux' is--in my opinion--aimed at 12-14 year olds. A bit of hard language but most of it is starred out. An entertaining and unexpected read.

This was an excellent book by Geraldine McCaughrean. The Story starts when a young boy, Pepper, realises that he was going to die after the news he heard from his Aunt Mirelle.His father, a good sailor, promised to come at that exact date but there was no sign of him. So, Pepper was determined to see his father and went on a adventurous voyage to find him but will he die during the adventure?
